Applications are invited from suitably qualified Gambians to apply for a vacant position of Cabin Safety Inspector at The Gambia Civil Aviation Authority under the Directorate of Flight Standards. GCAA staffs who are interested in vying for this position can do so through their respective Heads of Departments. The closing date for receipt of applications will be Monday 14th March 2016. Applications received after closing date will not be considered.


  • Under the direct supervision of the Director of Flight Safety Standards, the successful applicant will among other things:


  • Determines through surveillance and investigation that the training facilities are adequately organized and equipped, staffed with appropriately qualified instructors, and conduct flight attendant training as required by appropriate Civil Aviation Regulations and CAA approved training program.


  • Perform initial certification of new airline operators in all cabin safety related areas. Review documents and evaluate plans to ensure compliance with Civil Aviation Regulations.


  • Evaluate flight attendant training programs to ensure that they meet CAA requirements.


  • Evaluate air carrier and air operator emergency evacuation, ditching, and other emergency procedures.


  • Conduct en-route inspections and ramp inspection of air carrier operators.


  • Conduct cabin safety system analysis independently or as a team member on special inspection teams.


  • May be assigned other duties and responsibilities as required.

The position commensurate with Grade D of the Authority’s pay scale.


Applicants must possess a Cabin Crew/Flight Attendant Licence with 10 years minimum working experience as a Flight Attendant. A postgraduate diploma in any Aviation subject with some knowledge of airport operations is highly desirable. Applicants without the minimum highlighted criteria need not apply as they will not be considered.
